Description :

Flash flooding ripped apart roadways and sidewalks in Houghton, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, on June 17.

Images shared by residents showed Agate Street, which runs downhill through Houghton towards the Keweenaw Waterway, entirely washed out.

The National Weather Service said law enforcement in Houghton County has reported “historic flood damage” resulting from four to eight inches of rain, and warned that thunderstorms could bring more flash flooding to the area.
