Description :
The US Geological Survey warned on May 10 that continuing sulphur dioxide emissions and earthquake activity meant that further eruptions of lava from 15 fissures in the Leilani Estates subdivision of Puna, Hawaii, were likely.
The USGS also warned of an increased risk of explosive activity at the summit of the Kilauea volcano.
At least 36 structures have been destroyed by lava flows since a May 4 earthquake rocked the area, the Hawaii Tribune Herald reported. Credit: Andrew Jackson, Hawaii Army National Guard via Storyful
